We tech energy companies and industrial plants in Finland

Janne Lappi, Vitec ALMA

What’s your name and what do you do at Vitec?
My name is Janne Lappi, I work in sales as head of our sales team, and as part of our management team. My title is Sales director.

When did you join the company?
I started in 2018. Time flies.

What is the most common question about your job if you meet with friends?
“So you work in IT, what do you actually do?” I usually reply by saying that we make software to help others do their job better. In my case it’s asset and maintenance management software for energy companies and industrial plants.

What do you like most about Vitec?
I have always liked the culture and especially the values that we really share throughout the whole company: our products – our foundation, keep it simple, and trust and transparency.

If you stretch your daily work into a greater purpose, something that makes you proud, what would that be for you?
To me customer value is always the #1 thing – and I also think it’s nice to be able to help people and companies work more efficiently and in a more sustainable way because of our products.

What took you all the way here? The reason why you chose this particular profession?
I graduated as an engineer in logistics telematics. And worked in different kinds of positions in training and in summer jobs. My first real job was a sales-engineers position in an IT company. I have worked as project manager, solution specialist and development manager also, but I have always come back to sales. In sales you can combine human interaction and communication skills with technical stuff.

What would you do if you were not working with this, your alternative career choice?
I used to dream about being an architect as I was younger, but not anymore really. Maybe something totally different like something really concrete, like farming or construction.

Thank you!
