We tech the pupils and students in Greenland

Free reading and writing assistance for pupils and students in Greenland

All educational institutions in Greenland now get access to Vitec MV's software. This initiative marks a significant step toward equal learning opportunities and ensures better support for students who struggle with reading and writing. The Agency for Education in Greenland has entered into an agreement with Vitec MV, granting all educational institutions free access to the IntoWords reading and writing tool, from September 1, 2025.

Rollout starts with Danish – Greenlandic integrated from day one

From the beginning, IntoWords will be available with full functionality in several languages, including Danish and English. At the same time, work will begin on developing and integrating Greenlandic into the software as of September 1, 2025. This includes development of:

  • Greenlandic text-to-speech synthesis
  • Greenlandic word suggestions
  • Integration of other Greenlandic language technologies

It is estimated that up to 20% of Greenland’s population has a concrete need for reading and writing technology – and that many others could benefit from it in their education. The agreement also allows all Greenlandic students – no matter where in the world they are studying – to access IntoWords completely free of charge.

Several institutions have already been using IntoWords. These will continue to have access, but now without any costs, as the Agency for Education will cover all expenses.

Empowering education through technology

Hans-Erik Shou, CEO of Vitec MV, comments on the agreement:

- This project represents far more than just access to a digital tool. It is about creating equal opportunities for learning and ensuring that every student, regardless of their challenges, has the chance to succeed. By integrating Greenlandic language technologies and offering free access to IntoWords for all educational institutions, we are taking a major step toward inclusive education and digital empowerment.

Importantly, this initiative also supports the preservation and development of the Greenlandic language, ensuring it continues to be an active and modern language in education and everyday life. And once IntoWords is fully available in Greenlandic, it will also be offered to all Greenlanders, no matter where in the world they are located.

At Vitec MV, we are proud to contribute with our expertise and solutions, supporting both teachers and students in their daily learning journeys.
