We tech the car dismantling industry in the Benelux
Meet Michiel ’t Jong, business unit CEO of Vitec Autonet in the Netherlands. In this interview, he shares more about the company’s role in the car dismantling industry, what makes the team unique, and what they look forward to as part of Vitec.
Tell us a bit about yourself and Vitec Autonet. My name is Michiel ’t Jong, and I’m the Business Unit CEO of Vitec Autonet, based in Dordrecht in the Netherlands. I joined the company in 2002 and have held several roles over the years, growing alongside the business. Today, Vitec Autonet has 22 employees and has been part of Vitec Group since January 2026. We’re excited to begin this new chapter together with Vitec Software Group.
If someone asks, “What does Vitec Autonet do?”, how would you explain it simply? We provide software for the car dismantling industry in the Benelux, including an ERP system that helps customers manage their entire business. When a vehicle arrives, our software helps register it, identify its parts, manage stock, and advertise the parts online. It is at the core of our customers’ daily operations.
We also operate the largest used car parts website in the Benelux, with an online stock of 6.5 million parts. We have been active in the car dismantling industry for 35 years, since 1990, and about 80% of all car dismantlers in the Netherlands use our software.

What is your team focusing on right now? There is a lot going on at the moment. A key focus is the integration with Vitec following the acquisition in January. We are also continuously developing our ERP system to meet our customers’ needs and expectations. It is the heart of their business, so keeping it up to date is essential. That is why we have a dedicated team working solely on the ERP software.
AI is another important area for us. We are exploring how it can support our development and customer support work, and we can already see a significant impact on how we build software and websites. We are also focused on growth beyond the Netherlands. We are active in Belgium and to some extent in Germany, and in the coming years we would like to expand further into Europe.
If someone joined your team for a week, what would they notice right away? What would make them think, “This feels like Vitec Autonet”? When you walk into our office, you immediately notice that we are an informal and open company. We are hands-on, have a lot of humor, and bring deep domain knowledge to our work. We are also very close to our customers, many of whom we have known for decades. Sales and development work closely together, and you quickly get a sense of every part of the company.
What defines Vitec Autonet is our deep understanding of the industry and our customers. We use that knowledge in a practical, hands-on way to work closely with them and provide the best possible service. We want our customers to stay with us for the next 20 to 30 years. That long-term perspective also fits well with Vitec’s vision: we are here to stay, and we want to keep doing our best for our customers now and in the years ahead.

What are you most looking forward to as part of a larger organization like Vitec? For us, it is important that we remain Autonet, keep our identity, and stay close to our customers. Vitec’s decentralized model is very interesting to us. We now have a large organization behind us, with many other vertical software companies that have faced similar challenges in areas such as development processes, technology, AI, security, organization, and growth.
We are curious to learn from the experiences of other business units in the Vitec Group, and we also look forward to sharing our own knowledge and perspectives in return.
Thank you Michiel, and welcome to Vitec!
